From Exiled Wolf Girl to Dragon Queen

The wolf clan wiped out the dragons and took the throne, and the royal court has been comfortable ever since. Stories about the zombies massing past the Northern Border became a folk tale nobody at court repeated seriously. Generations of that comfort left the nobility no longer believing dragons existed either, though one dragon heir was still alive and still in their hands. She was a girl, the last of her line, and the court decided the simplest use for her was to put her outside the border wall and let the wasteland handle the problem. She is sent out with no escort and no way back. The zombies beyond the wall are not a legend, and the swarm closes around her almost at once. Behind her, the court that exiled her goes on with its calm routine, still certain the north is empty, while the thing they refused to name is already moving toward the capital that pushed her out to meet it.
