Twice Upon A Love

The delivery went badly at the hospital five years ago. Zhao Ling'er, pregnant by Gu Zichen after a chance encounter, was bleeding heavily and the two newborns were left with the ward staff. A man who worked for Gu Zichen told the ward he was her family, paid off a nurse, and carried both babies out to him. When Zhao Ling'er came round, a nurse told her the children had not survived. Five years on she works at a jewellery store, where a man named Wang Buren keeps bothering her. She tells him she is married with a child, then asks her friend Zhang Miaomiao to find her a husband. At the coffee shop where the meeting is set, two children, Gu Pingping and Gu An'an, overhear the two women talking and sit down with Zhao Ling'er as though they belong to her date. Gu Zichen finishes his business, comes back to the coffee shop and learns what the children have done. He is taking them away when Wang Buren spots them and demands that Zhao Ling'er pay back money, which leaves Gu Zichen with the impression that she is after money, so he tells her he has none. He thinks it over anyway, and the two of them go to the civil affairs bureau and register the marriage. Wang Buren turns up at the jewellery store again while she is buying presents for the two children. Gu Zichen settles the matter with him and they go home for the children's birthday, and afterwards Zhao Ling'er moves into his house. Wang Buren comes after her one evening when her shift ends, and Gu Zichen, there to collect her, gets her out of it. Wang Buren's wife then comes to the store to make trouble over the business and leaves badly. Gu Zichen helps her sign a contract with Boss Zhang, and at the KTV afterwards something about her makes him doubt who she is, so he puts Jiang Yan onto looking into her. Out shopping with Zhang Miaomiao she runs into him with Jiang Yiyi and understands then what she feels about him. He explains who Jiang Yiyi is and they go back to the house, where Gu Guoqiang is waiting, and they have to tell Gu Guoqiang how things stand so that Gu Zichen's identity stays covered. The staff at the jewellery store are celebrating her entry into the Gu Group's competition when she learns who Gu Zichen really is, and she asks for a divorce. Jiang Yiyi then tells her she has been in love with Gu Zichen for a long time and asks her to leave him. Gu Zichen takes advice from his friends and sets about winning his wife back. Jiang Yiyi finds out by chance that Zhao Ling'er is the birth mother of the two children, destroys the paperwork, and arranges for a woman named Zhao Guo to pass as their mother.
