The God's Descent

King Poseidon has designs on the northern frontier, and the plot he is assembling reaches the border where Zhan Tianchen has spent years fighting. Zhan Tianchen grew up an outcast in the Zhan family and came back from those campaigns as the God-King of the Northern Frontier, a title the aristocracy attaches to a man they have never seen. The previous king's last wish was that he marry the daughter of the Lin family, so he goes to the wedding with his name and rank hidden. The concealment causes more trouble than the war did. The Lin family, whose own standing is rising, treats the marriage as a mistake and moves to divorce him. He takes the ridicule and keeps working on Poseidon's invasion plan, and eventually breaks it. By the time the Lin family and the Zhan family understand who he was, there is nothing for them to do about it.
