I Won't Settle for Pretend Love

In the pack a mate is claimed with a mark, given at a marking ceremony in front of everyone, and whoever the Alpha marks becomes his Luna. On the day of Diana's own ceremony her mate, Alex Burke, and her sister, Rose Roth, are caught mating in the dressing room. She becomes the joke of the whole pack. While the laughter is still going, the Alpha, Nate Hyland, steps forward and marks her himself. After the wedding Nate treats her well. They cannot conceive, and after years of trying Diana goes through IVF and becomes pregnant. Nate grows more attentive than before and calls her "Darling" in his sleep. She takes it all as a blessing from the Moon Goddess. Then she overhears Nate talking with his Beta. Rose was afraid of the pain of carrying a pup and did not want to go through a pregnancy, so Nate secretly swapped the eggs used in Diana's IVF, and the pup Diana has been carrying is Rose's and his. It is due in two months. Once it is born Rose is to take it and Nate will tell Diana it was stillborn; his view is that a discarded Omega has been compensated enough by his staying with her. The Beta asks how he could do this to a Luna who adores him and looks after him. Nate says nothing for a while, then sighs. Diana decides to end the pregnancy at once and leave the marriage.
