Love Breaks the Ice

In the Shelly house the chairman, Alex Shelly, has used a wheelchair since a fall from a horse years ago. The rumor outside is that he is handsome and kind, while the people who work for him know him as gloomy and quick to lose his temper, and the household needs a live-in caregiver for him. Through a mix-up the job goes to Hedy Hayes, who has just graduated from a top university. The two of them settle into a running fight. She hides the battery from his wheelchair, then goes to work on his picky eating, and one day gets him out to an amusement park. When an enemy of Alex's holds a banquet she barges in and makes a mess of it, and later she puts together a surprise for his birthday. His manner towards her softens by degrees, and a kiss that neither of them planned puts an end to the things they had both been holding back. After that the two of them start looking into the fall from the horse that put him in the chair, and into the people who were behind it.
