What She Left Behind

On the day the nine stars line up, a person can be sent between the ancient world and the modern one. Isla Stern is pulled back into the ancient era and finds Shaun Laine, a prince nobody backs. She spends ten years putting him on the throne, and she bears him a son, Aaron. Shaun becomes emperor, Isla becomes empress, and women envy her. Then Shaun falls in love with Tanya Yale. So does Aaron. Isla is disappointed by both of them, over and over, until she stops expecting anything. She waits for the alignment and goes back to the modern era, leaving the title behind. Shaun and Aaron begin to regret it only after she is gone.
