Temptation of a Stolen Kiss

Ian Bolt has spent eight years keeping Jane Cole in debt to him for kindnesses she is supposed to be grateful for, and the account never closes. Jane designs jewelry. She gives way each time to hold the relationship together, drops the people she used to see, stops going anywhere on her own, and by the end the pieces she draws go out with Ian's name on them. He gets the work and she gets the gratitude he says she owes. Joe Shaw, who runs Shaw Corp, deals with her as a designer. Through him Jane starts to think differently about what she has been calling love. Being pressed down so that Ian could be pleased with himself had become normal to her, and it turns out a relationship can run on two people understanding each other and both getting somewhere. She goes back out into the world, takes work again, and starts drawing jewelry for herself. She gets out from under Ian and names the person who has been taking her designs and passing them off as his own. The clients and the people she works alongside come round to her.
