Nathan Hardin took Shannon Lewis's money for four years of university. She is a doctor in a village and worked for every bit of it. In the city he married someone else and had a child, which Shannon finds out about later. She breaks off the engagement. Around the same time she comes across a man being hunted and treats him. He is Kyson Pearson, who runs a criminal organisation, and he proposes to her almost immediately. Outside the house he is hard and settles things without hesitation. At home he does what she tells him. His identity nearly comes out several times, and Shannon falls for him before she learns what he actually does. Nathan's wife Paige is worried that Shannon will come back for him and sets traps for her repeatedly. Nathan and Paige both pay for what they have done.
