Alex Ryan is the heir of the Ryan family, and he wants Lacey Thomson, who heads the Shadow Flock, as his wife whether she agrees or not. He has her cornered when Dylan Grant comes past after closing his street stall for the day. Lacey grabs Dylan and introduces him as her boyfriend, and Alex backs off for the moment. Lacey goes home with Dylan to a house that looks poor. Alex is still pushing for the marriage, so the two of them hold a wedding that same night to put it out of reach. The next day Alex has members of the Shadow Flock kidnapped to force Lacey's hand, and the standoff turns into a fight where people could die.
