My Firefighter Ex-Husband Burns in Regret

A youth center collapses with children inside. Firefighters go in, and Jace is one of them. In the rubble he chooses to bring out Candace, a former lover, and her daughter Kimberly. His own daughter Alyssa is in the same building and she dies there. Hazel is Alyssa's mother and Jace's wife. She learns whom her husband chose to carry out and holds him and Candace responsible for the death. She sets out to make both of them answer for it. While she is living with the loss she starts a foundation that supports children. Jace is left with the guilt of the choice. He tries to make amends for what he did. The attempt ends with him going away into an exile of his own choosing.
