Lion held every major title in golf at once and was the man the sport measured itself against. Then his wife died. He walked off at the height of it, taking their baby daughter with him, and let the record stand without him. He took work as a gardener at a golf club, weeding beds and cutting grass on the same kind of course he used to own, and nobody there connects the man on the mower with the name in the record books. His daughter is growing up. There is tuition to pay and he does not have it, and the gardener's wage does not stretch to the life he wants for her. That is what puts him back on the course, playing again in front of people who had written him off as gone for good, working his way back toward the position he abandoned.
