Reborn, Not Yours

Madeline Hayes stands up in front of everyone and cuts off the man her family calls her uncle. There is no blood between them, he came into the family by marriage, and in the eight years she has already lived through she loved him anyway and got cold looks, betrayal and years of being held down for it, until it ended badly for her. She has woken up at the point where all of that was about to start. She goes at it in order. The woman he had wanted since before he met her gets taken apart in public, and the people who had looked down on Madeline the first time get the same back one at a time. When she has finished and turns to leave for good, the man who had treated her as nothing takes hold of her with his eyes red and asks her not to go.
