Her Breakthrough, His Breakdown

Danny Cohen travels for work, and the trips abroad run long. Behind them he has been keeping up a relationship with a woman from his past who lives in another country. At home is his wife of six years, Eileen Marsh, who gave up her studies and a career in medicine when they married so she could run the house and raise their daughter. Eileen finds out about the woman. The end comes when their daughter falls seriously ill and Danny is nowhere to be found. He is with the other woman, holding a birthday party for a dog. Eileen files for divorce. She goes back to research, and moves from housewife to a leading figure in her field at a medical research company, with papers in international journals and prizes from several countries. When she is about to start a new life, Danny comes back, breaks down, and kneels in front of her to ask her to return.
