Nina catches her boyfriend Justin with someone else. At a party afterwards she meets Enzo Rivers, the hockey captain, who is known for sleeping with a girl once and never going back. She takes the one night on those terms. They keep circling each other and both start to feel something. Nina finds out where the rule about once comes from. If Enzo sleeps with the same person a second time, that person dies. A fated mate is the exception, and if Nina is his mate she is safe. An ex of his has never let go and sets about making Nina's life unbearable. Nina's own nature surfaces after her first time. She is a hybrid, and that puts her in front of her sister Selena. Selena takes Nina in order to trade places with her and get out of the Lycan world.
