An Ex-Con Mother's Quest

Elaine Norman wants her twin sons back and cannot get to them. Her father is holding them over her. She has just come out of prison, where she served a sentence for a crime he committed and let her take the blame for. Now he tells her to marry Matthew Stone, in a marriage that is supposed to drive off bad luck, and he uses the boys to make her agree. Elaine is also the doctor known as the Master Healer, which nobody around her knows. She goes through with the wedding. Afterwards she learns that the younger of the twins has died. While she is mourning him she notices that Matthew's son has the same birthmark her own boy had.
