The man Violet pulls out of a gang shootout is Mattia, who runs a crime syndicate. He is close to dead when she reaches him. She is a nurse and she keeps him alive on instinct, without knowing what it will cost her. Mattia does not let go of her afterwards. His interest in her turns into obsession, and she is drawn into the world around him, where love and betrayal come in the same package.
