Clear Break

Lyra owes a debt to the elder Sterling, and to repay it she goes to work under his son and promises the old man she will support him. The son lets his girlfriend push Lyra around at the office, and Lyra puts up with it for three years because of that promise. Then someone drugs her in an attempt to set her up. She resigns and takes the company's core team with her to the Sullivan family's firm. The Sterling son only begins to see what he has done once she is gone. Inside the Sterling group the balance of power breaks down and the infighting gets worse. At the Sullivans, Lyra rebuilds the business piece by piece and keeps landing wins, and the standing of the firms in the industry shifts around her. The Sterling side slides out of control as one scandal after another comes to light. She uncovers several schemes along the way, the Sullivans come to trust her, and she and Julian Sullivan grow closer. She is pushed further up the Sullivan firm and has a new decision to make about her own position. The rivalry between the two companies comes down to a bid for a contract that both of them want.
