Wait? Jade Emperor is My Dad?!

Jamie Carter takes the Heavenly Emperor for his own birth father. The mistake comes at the end of a stretch in which Jamie, a young man from the present day, has been dropped into the world of Journey to the West and handed a beginner quest by a system: laying tiles on Palm Hill, the mountain Sun Wukong is pinned under. While the job goes on he and the monkey fall into the habit of eating together, and the two of them get into a run of small trouble. By the time the tiling is finished, Sun Wukong's term under the mountain is close to its end. Jamie is getting ready to move away from Palm Hill with his father when the Heavenly Emperor comes down to look over the mortal world in person. Jamie runs into him and insists that this is the man who fathered him. From there one blunder follows another, and the disorder spreads from the mountain up to the heavenly court and out to the gods of the Western Heaven, who are left scrambling. Each new incident brings the truth about who Jamie is a step nearer to coming out, and in the meantime a divine power of his own starts to show, a little at a time.
