The Agent’s Flower

Vitas is an interstellar agent from a cyberpunk world, tracking a virus that was tearing through his home planet. The operation fails and his consciousness is thrown into an ancient world called Blue Star, into the body of a scholar named Callum Reed. He wants to restore his system and find a route home, so he treats the new world as a game with levels to clear. There he meets Elowen Vale, a flower spirit who trains on Gushan, and helps her defend Qianzhou County against the Nightfiend, an ancient demon waking up along with its illusion sorcerers and beast servants. Elowen destroys the demon stone that powers the Nightfiend and is badly hurt doing it. Vitas goes into dangerous country looking for the Soul Returning Land, then travels to the northern territory to build up enough standing to ask for the Sweet Dew Rain that could bring her back. Neither his technology nor his training is any use to him there, and for the first time duty is not the only thing he is weighing.
