From Peasant Lady to Royalty

Flora Lewis raised a boy in the Bai household who was not right in the head and was treated as a servant, and he was her own son Zhizhou, taken from her twenty years earlier. She lost him during a famine, on the day she saved a starving young man who turned out to be the fifth prince. That prince is now Emperor. He sends people to find the woman who saved him. They find her in the middle of a fight with the Li family, who are pushing her and her daughter around, and the Emperor rules in her favour. Then he orders a search of the country for Zhizhou and turns him up in Jiangnan, living with the Bai family and out of his wits. Flora sets out to get justice for her son and works through what the Bai family have been doing to him, exposing it piece by piece, and the Emperor steps in for her again when it goes badly. Prince Ning then raises a rebellion, and in the fighting Zhizhou moves to protect his mother.
