Love’s Healing Scorch

Sara's father is sent to prison, and rather than let the fallout reach Brady she stages an affair so he will end things himself. He does. Six years later she is raising their son alone in a city where the boy's illness has turned into a bill she cannot pay, and the hospital keeps asking about the balance. Brady has spent those six years being recognized as the heir of a wealthy family. When he sees Sara again she is asking for money in a building he owns a piece of, and he reads her exactly the way she looks: a woman who cheated on him and has come back now that he is rich. He humiliates her in front of other people more than once and she does not correct him, because the version of events she built six years ago still has to hold. The child's condition forces blood work, and the blood work forces the relationship between Brady and the boy into the open. Brady learns what the affair was and why she staged it, and he has to sit with six years of what he said to her while the treatment continues.
