Sold to Daddy’s Best Friend

Mia is eighteen when she goes looking for a way to pay for her grandmother's treatment and ends up on the wrong side of a line she didn't know existed, inside territory that belongs to a mafia boss named Christian. She sleeps with him that night. Afterward she learns he is her father's best friend and, worse, the doctor who has been treating her family for years. They keep seeing each other without her father finding out, meeting in exam rooms and back offices, more than once nearly walking into him in the hallway. At school Mia is bullied, shoved around, her things thrown out. At home her mother tries to sell her off to a slaughterhouse to settle a debt. Each time, Christian intervenes, and he does not intervene gently. People who touch her get hurt. What started as a transaction, sex for money, for protection, for her grandmother's medical bills, turns into something neither of them planned on. Mia gets pregnant. Her father finds out about the affair and about the child at roughly the same time, and after his best friend's daughter carrying his best friend's child becomes impossible to argue with, he gives the two of them his blessing, though he does it without much grace.
