Immortal? Been There, Done That

Ben Zimmer has very little time left, and he will not take his last breath. There is someone he means to see first, and until she comes he holds on. The Zimmer house does not know what to do with him in that state. Zimmer is the most prominent man in Riverton and the family's standing runs through him. A young woman comes to the door and says she is there to see him. Her name is Mia Young. The family takes her for the daughter of a woman Ben used to speak about, and on that assumption they let her in. When Mia is finally brought to him, Ben rises from the bed and tells the room a truth the family had never been given.
