Wait, My Husband Is a General?

The man Mia Shaw took in and fed was a scholar who had come down in the world. He was the general of the northern garrison, and the court moved when he said so. Mia had arrived in that body from somewhere else. She woke as the young woman the village called its worst, at the scene of a killing, and she went off a cliff soon after and lived. Her relatives wanted the money and arranged to sell her to a butcher who was violent at home. The law left her no room either, since a woman still unmarried at twenty went to forced labor and could be jailed after that. What she had was the food of her own time, which nobody there had eaten. She started with a stall and no capital and ended up with a restaurant in the capital that people knew by name.
