Married in a Flash to the Healing Fairy

Audrey Bancroft's father kept a mistress, and when the woman moved into the Bancroft house she brought her daughter Penelope with her. The engagement Audrey had with the Kensington family was transferred to Penelope, and Audrey herself was sent off to a remote village to be raised there. In the village she was taken in by an old man, Dr. Silas Vance, who she assumed was just a country elder until she understood he was the healer people travel across the country to find. She spent years learning from him. In that time Alexander Kensington, the fiance Penelope took, was in a car accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down, and the doctors gave him under a year. The Kensington bride price stands at ten billion, and the Bancrofts want it. Penelope will not marry a dying cripple. So the family sends for Audrey, brings her back to the house she was thrown out of, and tells her she will go to the Kensingtons in her stepsister's place. Nobody there knows what she learned in the village.
