From Security Guard to Royal Bloodline

The empress of Great Xia takes an interest in Myles at the point when the rest of the court has decided he is a fraud. He has turned up as the son of the Wandering King. He was a security guard in the present day until a jade pendant handed down through his family carried him back. The pendant makes objects real. He uses it, and what he knows from his own century, to get out of a trap laid for him on arrival and to get through the trials the court sets him. The empress is impressed enough to take his side. One faction wants him put to death, another proposes a political marriage instead. He takes back land the empire had lost. An enemy fleet is approaching by sea while the court is still arguing about him.
