A Deal for a Mysterious Funeral

The head of the Chen family, the richest house in the Great Xia, has an incurable illness and could die any day. To keep the family steady after he is gone, he puts out a bounty: find Charon, whatever it costs. Charon is an undertaker. Every family whose dead he has personally seen off has come into great fortune in the generations after. He has drifted in and out of history for a long time, and after five thousand years he has just woken again and reopened the Undertaking Shop he has kept for all of that time. The Chens have heard that he is awake. The first person through the door is a young woman whose father died because of the corruption of the Chen heir. She tried to get justice, and compensation, and got nowhere. She walks in and asks to draw a lot.
