Lorraine faked her own death to get away from Andrew. She had twins by then. She gave him the elder boy, Chris, kept the younger one, Alex, and left the country, and Andrew brought Chris up for the next eight years. She had found out she was pregnant some time before that and was about to tell him. He came home that day with Lucy, his first love. Lucy worked on the two of them until there was a fight, and in the middle of the anger they divorced. Nine months later Andrew came across Lorraine's pregnancy report by accident and went looking for her across the city, and that was when she handed the baby over and disappeared. Eight years later Lorraine came back into the country for work, with Alex. She and Andrew ran into each other again. The twins kept putting the two of them in the same rooms, and the fixed ideas each of them had about the other started to come apart.
