The Last Sacrifice

Samuel Carter and Allison Bennett met in college and founded a company together. Samuel handled the technology and the company ran on it. Allison transferred money out of the couple's joint assets and out of the company's accounts to her own family, on several occasions. Her brother destroyed the company's core research data and Allison let it pass. She then told Samuel she would divorce him unless he handed over the money the company was holding to keep itself running, for the purchase of a house in a school district for her brother. Samuel decided on divorce and signed the papers. Without him, Allison put her name to a bet agreement tied to the company's next project. The project failed and the company was bought by another group. The woman who ran that group hired Samuel for his technical work. He rebuilt his career there and the two of them became a couple.
