Legally Savage

Blanche Langlais practices divorce law in a city where her name carries weight. Women bring her their cases; the men she cross-examines learn to avoid her. Her ex-husband, Yves Oudot, wants her caught in something, and hires a bodyguard named Maxime Chenet to get close to her and set the trap. Maxime takes the job, watches how she works, and stops carrying it out. He starts calling her boss and stays on as her protection. The first case they take down is a bigamy suit against Jourdan, who runs the Jourdance Group. The second is Louise Gaubert, who is pregnant and being pushed toward an abortion by Lacour, the Lacoumax magnate who also invests in Blanche's firm, and by Suzanne Valcourt. Blanche has to find witnesses willing to speak and evidence that will hold in court. She is the lawyer and Maxime is the muscle, and they work through the cases one after another, mostly for women with no other way to be heard.
