The Little Fortune-teller

Livy is born with psychic ability, and the same fate that gives it to her carries two afflictions with it: solitude and ruin. She harms herself and everyone near her. All seven of her masters ran into bad luck once they took her on, and none of them could work out how to break it. The seventh, Setti Knight, calculated that a great catastrophe was coming for Livy, and looked for a kind man to take her in as a foster father so the calamity could be turned aside. She settled on Aiden, who was known for his charity. Livy went to the wrong man. She picked Mason, a cold-tempered figure whose own fate was as ominous as hers, and called him her father. Mason had been running his company at a distance from everyone, and Livy and her abilities moved into his life.
