Fired by My Brother, I Made Millions
Synopsis
Ten years ago, Frank Foster and his older brother Roger Foster started from nothing and co-founded a hardware stamping factory, Foster Stamping. In the early days, conditions were harsh: the workshop was crude, cash was tight, and all the pressure fell on the two brothers. Frank held the core technology; machine tuning and breakdown repairs depended entirely on him. For five straight years, he practically ate and slept in the workshop. In freezing winter, with no heating, his hands were constantly exposed to cold metal and covered with cracked chilblains. Even when the wounds were swollen and painful, he gritted his teeth and rushed repairs to keep the production line running. With Frank's technical support, the factory grew step by step and orders poured in; at its peak, annual profit reached 4.86 million. But once business boomed, Roger's selfishness grew. He controlled all revenue and planned to swallow every profit alone. When it came time to share dividends, Roger tossed Frank one yuan as his so-called dividend and humiliated him, mocking him as nothing but a repairman who had no right to talk about dividends. Those cruel words chilled Frank to the bone. Years of sacrifice were wiped out, and in despair he tore up his work badge on the spot and resolutely resigned from the factory he had built with his own sweat. With his outstanding technical skills, Frank was soon recruited by Brighton Technologies as chief technical consultant on a high salary. Thanks to his solid expertise, he was also hired by the City Safety Bureau as an external safety expert and led a team to inspect hidden safety risks in old industrial equipment across the city. Meanwhile, Foster Stamping, having lost its core technical pillar, quickly fell into trouble. Roger refused to spend money on qualified equipment and greedily bought a batch of cheap, shoddy machines. Their inherent defects created a huge safety hazard, and eventually a violent explosion ripped through the workshop, leaving many workers seriously injured. After the accident, the factory not only faced a 5 million yuan penalty for breach of contract, but those responsible also had to face legal consequences. With nowhere left to turn, Roger went to Frank, humbling himself and begging for mercy. After being refused, he urged their parents to use family ties to morally blackmail Frank. Facing the pressure of kinship, Frank did not waver in his principles; he compiled all accident-related evidence and submitted it to the District Court. In the end, Roger and the others were found guilty and sentenced according to law. Later, Frank led the safety inspection team to dig deeper along the accident clues, successfully uncovering a black-market chain of substandard equipment involving 120 million yuan, rooting out a major cancer in the industry, and he himself was named a Statewide Advanced Individual in Work Safety. After all these storms, Roger's family finally woke up and recognized their own faults. Old grudges settled, and the two brothers reconciled. Frank sighed with deep emotion and shared his insight: "In this life, money isn't the most important thing—conscience is.”
