Back to the Heiress, Back to Slay

Avery Vinton wants her place in the family she was born into. At six she was diagnosed as intellectually disabled, the diagnosis was wrong, and her mother had her swapped out for another girl, who was raised in her place. Fifteen years later the grandmother of the Vinton family tracks Avery down and brings her back. The relatives who took the substitution as settled treat her as beneath them, so she starts producing the identities she has built during the fifteen years away, one at a time, and each one leaves somebody looking foolish. Vincent, who controls the wealthiest family in Eagan and has a reputation for being cold and decisive, turns out to be her ex-boyfriend, and in front of her he behaves like a wounded husband. "You have to take responsibility for me." As her hidden identities keep surfacing, so does the reason she was given up as a child. Her mother's motive was never only the low IQ.
