"The Rise of Suining"
When the female protagonist, Mu Suining, is born, a concubine kills her biological mother, Xie Meng, and banishes her out of the family, such that her status as the legitimate heir is taken over by the concubine's daughter, Mu Wanxin. Eighteen years later, Mu Suining accidentally rescues Qi Yunyan, the crown prince of the Jin Kingdom. During the process, Mu Suining and her blind adoptive mother, Mu, are bitten by red flower bugs and on the brink of death. But Mu Wanxin once again assumes the life-saving act as her own. To save her mother, Mu Suining wants to find Qi Yunyan to tell him the truth, but Mu Wanxin blocks her at every turn, even framing her such that Qi Yunyan mistakes Mu Suining as a merely vain woman. Unexpectedly, through their interactions, the two gradually fall in love. At this time, Mu Suining's biological uncle and Prince Xiang of Chen Kingdom, Wang Xie, and cousin, Xie Hanxing, come to Jin Kingdom to look for Mu Suining. Seeing that the "child swap" conspiracy from eighteen years ago is about to be revealed, Mu Wanxin once again interferes, pretending to be Mu Suining to reunite with them, and makes several attempts to kill Mu Suining. It is only until Mu Suining cures Xie Chen’s brain damage, caused by Mu Wanxin, that the truth comes to light. Desperate, Mu Wanxin tries to launch a rebellion with Prince Kang, the bootlicker, but is suppressed by Qi Yunyan and dies. Qi Yunyan and Mu Suining recognize their mutual affection, resolve their misunderstanding, and finally get married.
