They Freed Hell to Kill Me

The seal is about to give. The man holding it, the last great emperor of his world, has used up his strength, and he sends out an imperial summons to the heirs of the five holy lands to come and take the watch over from him. He has been the seal for ten thousand years, since he fused his own body into the Sky-Burying Stele to hold down the demon of the Netherworld abyss, and he has kept it alone the whole time. The heirs arrive to strange signs in the sky and decide a treasure is about to surface. As far as they are concerned, the man in front of the stele is only in the way. One of the five, Taiyi, moves first and cuts the nine heavenly chains. The other four holy lords come after, and the five of them together lay a five-direction extinction array and blast the emperor and the stele to pieces. The demon gets loose in the world. The mother-qi that spills from the broken stele flows into the emperor instead, and his wounds close and every bond on him is gone. He gives up the watch he kept for ten thousand years and swears to wash the five holy lands in blood.
