The Heiress’s Revenge: From Princess to Avenger

Oscar Hayes, crown prince of Daxia, made vows of love to Melanie Griffin and let her work herself to the bone putting him on the throne. Once he was emperor, he joined with others to have her killed. She was badly wounded. Before she lost consciousness she saw Albert Hayes, the Fourth Prince, who had ridden back from the frontier, and understood for the first time that he had been quietly looking out for her all along. She wakes in the time before Oscar's accession, and this time she means to keep him from trapping her. Oscar has been adding a slow poison to the medicine sent to the emperor each day. Melanie's mother was a skilled physician and left her antidote pills, and Melanie uses them to clear the poison from the emperor's body. From there she and Albert work together to bring Oscar's plan to take the throne into the open.
