Act Out Your Guilt

Sue Lockwood was a child when she watched Blanche Whitmore, her father's mistress, push her mother off the top of a building. She promised herself then that Blanche would answer for it. Twenty years pass. Sue, working under a different name, has become a known screenwriter, and Blanche is now an actress. Sue writes a script that follows the killing step by step and gives it to the agent River Kingsley, who takes it on and puts a production together with Blanche as the lead. Blanche is asked to play the woman who does the pushing. Filming is set for the building where Sue's mother died. Sue is on the set throughout. She arranges for the man who was Blanche's lover in those years to turn up as well, so that Blanche has to face him along with the lines. Between takes Sue presses her about the past, and on camera the script does the same. The fall scene is the last one left to shoot.
