Gone Ex and New Crush

Anna saw her husband off at the dock when he left for the city to find work. That same night word came back that he had fallen into the water and drowned. Her parents-in-law told her she should marry again. She had promised him she would look after them, and she stayed. For eight years she nursed the old couple and raised his younger brother, working from before dawn until after dark. Then her father-in-law fell seriously ill. Anna put both parents on her broken-down three-wheeler and rode through the night to the city to find a doctor. She found a surgeon who could save him, and someone else took the operating slot out from under her. She went looking for a bed and ended up at a wedding the hospital's owners, the White family, were holding that day. The groom was her husband. Olivia White had pulled him out of the water eight years earlier, and he had told the Whites he was an orphan. He had spent the eight years since fawning on the family, and now he was marrying into it. Anna went up and asked him to explain himself, and he insulted her in front of the guests. Then her mother-in-law pushed her father-in-law's wheelchair into the hall, with his operation still not done.
