A Bite of Peach Crisp

Emily Cross's son marries the county magistrate's daughter and moves into that household. After the wedding he stops treating Emily as his mother. The magistrate's family bullies her and lets her be humiliated in front of others, and he does nothing about it. Emily keeps a small tea shop in the county seat. She raised the boy there by herself. The Crown Prince passes through the county in disguise on an inspection tour and meets her by chance. She gives him a peach crisp. The pastry brings up a connection between Emily and the Emperor from years before, one that had been kept hidden until then.
