Lori Evans works as Ethan Shaw's secretary, dressed and passing as a man. She took the job to pay for her son's medical treatment. Ethan is the heir to the Shaw empire, and five years earlier he spent one night with her without either of them learning who the other was. Afterwards he blamed the wrong woman for what happened, was left badly shaken by it, and announced that he was allergic to women. Ethan uses his new secretary as a shield against the women pushed at him, including a staged kiss. He sees a photograph of the child and starts putting the dates together. His ex and members of his family move against the boy, and the child's life is in danger. Ethan gets them both out, and in doing so learns that his secretary is a woman and the mother of his son.
