The Hidden Sage

Felix Cooper took Prince Hecto with him when he withdrew from the court, and the two of them settled somewhere quiet where Felix meant to work as an ordinary schoolteacher. Under the previous dynasty scholars were killed in large numbers. Felix, who was held to be the sage of the age, helped the Emperor of Chana take the throne and end that dynasty, and then he left. The local strongmen would not leave him alone. The lord of the city took their side openly and ignored the law, and a martial arts clan pressed him as well. Felix kept teaching and kept arguing his case with anyone who came at him. Then a great scholar appeared and set out to slander him and ruin his name for good. "If reason will not get through, then I will teach with force."
