Haru is thirty three and has never dated anyone. School left her badly bullied and she never got past it, so the only male in her home is her cat. She cleans out an old family house and finds a rolled up scroll, and unrolling it breaks a seal that has held for five hundred years. Out of it steps Ryu Gyeom, who in the Joseon era was the most sought after male gisaeng alive, and who cannot go free until the seal is undone properly. Haru wants something too. Sena, the girl who tormented her at school, is engaged to Cha Jihun, and Haru wants to take him. They make the trade: Ryu Gyeom becomes her instructor in seduction, drilling her in how to walk, speak and hold a man's attention, and she becomes the key to his release. Lessons run in her apartment, in bars, anywhere Jihun can be arranged to appear. Haru is a terrible student.
