The Woman Who Gave Her Heart Twice

A surgical error by Yolanda leaves a patient paralyzed, and the fright of it brings on heart trouble in Yolanda herself. Her mother goes to Carolyn and asks her to take the blame and serve the prison sentence in Yolanda's place. Carolyn is in love with Frazier, Yolanda's brother, so she agrees. She says nothing to him about the arrangement and plans to explain once she is out. In prison Carolyn is diagnosed with cancer. Frazier has by then built up his own account of what she did and holds it against her, and she decides to leave that account standing rather than correct it. She puts what she has into Frazier's medical group, helping it develop an anti-cancer drug and bring it to market.
