Don't Regret When She Let Go

Bella chased Louis for two years. She arranged the meetings, made the excuses to be near him, and read every small kindness as a sign he was coming around. He let her. What she works out eventually is that he had been using her the whole time as a way in to her stepsister, who was the one he actually wanted. Bella stops. She does not argue about it or ask him to explain himself, she simply removes herself from his life and does not come back. Louis takes a while to notice what he has lost. When the stepsister is finally within reach, he finds that the feelings he thought he had were attached to the wrong person, and that the girl who had been standing in front of him for two years is the one he wants. By then Bella has gone and is not interested in hearing it, and Louis is left carrying a regret he cannot put down.
