Cheryl Lok was taken out of her family's house as a child by Ethan Sim, who had been adopted into it. Her father spent the next fifteen years looking for her. She was brought up in the underworld and ended up running the Green Gang. By the time her father's search reached her she was living in a small town under the name Rene, selling boxed lunches from a stall to stay near Marcus Koe. Her father came through the town on a corruption case, recognised her, and told her Marcus had been seeing Chloe Teo. She broke it off. Ethan Sim and men working with him went after her father at a public function. Cheryl gave her own name in front of the room and got him out. She stayed on in the town afterwards, working through the corruption case and the way the workers there were being paid. When she went back to the city Julian Kang set a trap for her, and she used the Green Gang against it to keep the Lok Group standing.
