In the Name of Justice

Twenty years ago the Great Fyredor was in disorder. Crown Prince Xanthus wanted the Loong's Vertebra, the relic that would let him take the world, and the ministers Tycralus and Hylaria stood in the way of it. He sent General Tigervalor to kill them. Before the soldiers reached them the two of them sealed the power of the Vertebra inside their small son, Eiron, and they died so that the boy would not be found. Eiron grew up and became magistrate of a small county. He married. He heard petitions and settled the county's business, and what his parents had put in him stayed where they had put it. Then Xanthus came back for it. He killed Eiron's wife and had the people of the county killed as well. The power sealed in Eiron has been there for twenty years and he has never used it.
