Ritual Hunt: Hide And Seek With Death

Lin Yuwei is a college student whose boyfriend talks her into a trip to a village deep in the mountains, then leaves her there alone. The place is closed off and poor, and it keeps a practice the outside world knows nothing about: women brought in from elsewhere are locked up and then released to be hunted. A voice counts down, three, two, one, and the men go looking. Lin Yuwei is put into the game with the others. She works out where the doors and the paths are and gets other captive women out one at a time, and while she does it she collects things that will hold up later, names, photographs, records of who took whom. She gets word to the police outside and a captain works the case with her from his end, matching what she sends against the missing-person reports. The village keeps hunting while the two ends of the investigation move toward each other, and Lin Yuwei has to keep passing as a frightened prisoner in front of the men she is documenting.
