Hit-Show Leading Lady is The Ultimate Clapback Queen

Stella Kensington is an actress preparing to play a long-suffering heroine, and she has spent weeks alone at night reciting the script's most miserable lines until she feels every one of them. During one of those late rehearsals she slips in the bathtub, the current goes through her, and she wakes inside the script itself, no longer reading the timid female lead but occupying her. The other characters expect the meekness the script gives that woman. Stella brings a modern woman's habits, answers back, refuses orders and climbs to the top of the profession inside the story, saying the things nobody in that world will say out loud. Chief among the people she refuses to defer to is Caleb Montgomery, the cold male lead the script hands all the power. Their arguments turn into a daily routine and then into something neither of them names for a while. The story is close to the ending both of them want when Stella's stepmother comes at her with a knife.
