Motherboard: The Heart of His Code

Brady Jensen is one of the best hackers alive, and there is a long line of executives who would pay anything to work with him. He turns them down because the woman who once saved his life is his fiancee, Marilyn Cooper, and he has stayed at her company under a name nobody looks at twice to repay that. With her firm approaching its stock offering, he wants to bring his mother in from the countryside and give her an easier life. Marilyn is embarrassed by a mother-in-law from a village. She agrees to his face, then uses his name to have the old woman sign papers cutting off all family ties, and sends her away. Brady finds out, ends the engagement and says he is leaving the company. Marilyn goes to her knees begging, because losing him before the offering would sink it. He lets it go for the sake of what she once did for him. The offering goes through, and Marilyn moves to fire him and put someone else in his seat, having never understood who she actually had working for her.
