Between the Brothers​

Esther Glyn spent seven years with Alexis Sinclair and expected to marry him. Shortly before the wedding she learned he had been seeing someone else the whole time. He then suggested they keep the engagement and simply see other people on the side, and she agreed, having already decided to pay him back with a scheme she had worked out in detail. Part of that scheme was Alexis's estranged brother Herman, who has bipolar disorder, a dark history and an obsession that unsettles everyone around him. Esther drew Herman into a relationship the family considers forbidden while handling both brothers at once and quietly moving assets out of the company they control. The longer it went on, the harder it became to read Herman as a piece on a board, since the feeling he had been hiding for years kept surfacing in ordinary moments. The bad blood between the two brothers built toward something that nearly ended in bloodshed, and Esther was the one standing between them when it came to a head.
